| Visitors
can (and do) have Internet access by plugging into
our network. Computers need to be configured for
DHCP. If you do not use DHCP, your computer will need
to set for this and rebooted so that you can obtain
an IP address from our server and so that you can
route properly. You will also need to turn off any
proxy settings that you might have so that you can
route directly to the Internet.
Visitors
are not allowed to create VPN tunnels between their
computer when connected to our network and their
office network. This would be a security problem
since it would allow their office to gain access to
our network (as well as all of internal Emerson). In
this case, you must use dial-up access to create the
VPN tunnel between your computer and their office.
This is the same way the VPN software works for Kato
employees that travel to other corporate offices
outside of Emerson.
If
you are the local administrator of your computer, we
can set up your systems to print to our printers
directly. Most of the HP printer drivers are standard
and should already be on your machine. If you are
not the local administrators of your machine, we are
not allowed to add our printers to your computer.
Instead we would need to provide you a username and
password into our network so that you can print
through our print server. In which case, it would be
better to electronically transmit the file that needs
printing to a system that is already on our network
so that it can be printed from there.
