Kato Engineering Inc. also offers ATEX certified Ex N protection. The
ATEX standard has been
chosen by major oil and gas companies as their safety
certification for electrical equipment used in hazardous
environments. The following are the main points of Ex N
protection:
- Certified design
- Non sparking fans: special emphasis regarding type and
composition along with maintaining prescribed clearance
between stationary components
- Minimum air gap clearance based on rotor diameter,
length and speed
- Main power leads and connections constructed so that
sound joints and minimum creepage distances are maintained
- High integrity enclosures without special maintenance
requirements
- Live parts are in a totally sealed enclosure, which is
vacuum tested
